Christian fiction is a special sub-genre of fiction that relates to Christianity, the religion; and Christians, the people who follow the religion of Christianity. Christian fiction is labeled as such because the books in its category relate to Christianity in one or more ways. Depending on the book, a piece of Christian fiction may talk about a person's struggle with religion and God, or about how religion and God helped an individual or a family defeat the demons in their life and move on to living a happier life. While Christian fiction is not considered to be a mainstream genre of books, it is nontheless quite popular, and its increase in popularity may one day introduce it into mainstream book genres.
Christian fiction is most often found in Christian bookstores, and in church- and community-run shops. You may also be able to find a broader selection of Christian fiction online, particularly on websites belonging to auhors, and on large book-selling sites such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. Some libraries may also carry Christian fiction, but you would do better to call ahead to be sure before making the trip to your local library. Depending on local ordinances and community guidelines, some libraries opt not to carry religious-specific material, unless it is non-fiction.
