Fantasy Fiction

What is fantasy fiction?

Fantasy fiction is a special type of fiction (made-up literature, versus factual and accurate literature) that uses supernatural and magical forms in the main plot, setting, or theme. Fantasy fiction usually involves some type of magic, whether it be witch-based, spiritual or supernatural. Furthermore, many of the plots and characters that can be found in fantasy fiction may not be very realistic at all; fictitious planets and the like may be used in place of our planet or other currently-known planets.

How does one write fantasy fiction?

There is no set guidelines to writing fantasy fiction. Generally most authors of fantasy literature already have an interest in the subject; therefore it's easy for them to pick up a pen and paper, or a keyboard and mouse, and start translating the thoughts and ideas in their minds into words on paper or a screen. When writing fantasy fiction, it's important to first come up with a plot. A plot is important regardless of the type of genre you are writing; it keeps you on track and focused. It's also good to have a friend or family member who is interested in the genre help you proofread, edit and improve your train of thought and the resulting words that come from it.
